Determination of the risk elements and other elements concentration in animal feed
Křehlíková, Jana ; Juglová, Zuzana (referee) ; Diviš, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis deals with the determination of selected microelements and macroelements and risk elements in dog and cat food. The theoretical part describes the nutrition of dogs and cats and focuses on the safety of the food in the context of contamination with risk elements. Another topic discussed is the chemical analysis of feeds, specifically the determination of nutritionally important substances, beneficial elements, and contaminants. The experimental part deals with the preparation and digestion of feed samples and the subsequent analysis of these samples using ICP-OES and AAS methods. The detected concentrations of the elements of interest in the feeds were compared with the feed standards issued by the Department of Veterinary Medicine and the decree issued by the Ministry of Agriculture. The analysed feeds were found to be deficient in some elements. The content of the risk elements in the feed met the legal limits and did not pose a health risk to the animal. Elements for which the legislation does not provide a maximum permissible limit were present in the feed-in in high concentrations that could already harm the animal's health.

The bachelor thesis describes the issue of Doberman breeding in the Czech Republic and partially discusses the standard valid in the United States of America. The specifics of breeding, the history of the breed, including today's use of Dobermans in various segments are described. The bachelor thesis also includes breeding requirements and information on the most common diseases faced by Doberman breeders. It answers questions regarding the occurrence of the two main diseases that Dobermans suffer from and states the degree of influence of these diseases on the quality of life of the affected dogs. This work also researched the average life span of dogs with diagnosed dilated cardiomyopathy. In the thesis the method of questionnaire survey was used to obtain data, as well as the method of data processing and following transformation into graphs and charts. In the practical part of the bachelor's thesis key information on the occurrence of dilated cardiomyopathy and hip dysplasia in the Doberman population was interpreted, along with possible measures that could lead to a reduction in the occurrence of these diseases.

Content of risk elements in food for dogs and cats
Hrabalová, Karolína ; Slavíková, Zuzana (referee) ; Diviš, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the determination of risk elements, namely mercury, arsenic, cadmium and lead in dog and cat food. The concentration of mercury was determined using the AAS technique, and the concentration of arsenic, cadmium and lead was determined by the ICP-MS method after microwave decomposition of the samples using mineral acids. A total of 30 feed samples were analyzed. In most samples, the concentrations of monitored elements were lower than the maximum permissible values given by the EU Commission Regulation, two samples did not meet the requirements of the regulation. The concentration of risk elements in the feed, except for arsenic, did not depend on the type of meat used in the feed. Feeds containing fish meat showed demonstrably higher concentrations of arsenic than feeds with other meats. Due to the relatively low proportion of meat in feed and due to the overall lower concentrations of risk elements in meat, it can be assumed that the vegetable or other component of the feed, or the technology of feed production, is responsible for the increased concentration of risk elements in feed.
Effect of diet on occurrence of gastrointestinal parasites in domestic animals (dogs, cats, hedgehogs, ferrets).
FILCOVÁ, Kristýna
The literature review, which is the part of the diploma thesis, contains a summary of the most widespread methods of pet food. It also contains a summary of gastrointestinal parasites in dogs, cats, hedgehogs and ferrets, and the methods of their diagnostics and therapy. The practical part of my thesis focused on collecting samples of pet excrements in the course of 2021 2023, which were then examined fot the presence of parasites using the standard coprological flotation method. In the course of the above-mentioned years, the questionnares were also provided to the pets owners, which the pet owners filled out. The questionnaire contained questions about the methods of pet food, methods of prevention used against gastrointestinal parasites, possible infection of pets with gastrointestinal parasites and the therapy used, and questions about the knowledge of this issue among pet owners. The number of infections of pets based on methods of pet food, methods of prevention used with individual methods of pet food, occurrence of the endoparasites with the prevention used, the opinion on the effectiveness of the prevention method and the opinion on the possibility to get infected from the infected pet were evaluated as well. The presence of infection with gastrointestinal parasites did not differ in individual categories of pet food. I did not prove that pets fed raw food were infected with parasites from this food. The thesis proves that pet fed heat-treated food, which is not a source of infection, are often infected with parasites. Infection from environment is a source of infection more often than feeding raw food.
